With over 40 years of combined training, presentation, facilitation and performance improvement experience, learning and development within DFS provides training on a variety of technical and professional development topics. Individual classes or entire curriculums can be customized to fit the needs of your organization or staff. The core providers of learning for employees of the DFS, OFR, OIR, and other state agencies, colleges and universities listed on this site are the DFS Office of Learning and Development, FLAIR Enterprise Education and Division of Risk Management Loss Prevention Safety Academy.
This office serves as the umbrella learning function with over 100 courses in its Professional Excellence Program (PEP) curriculum. Its mission is “to provide learning and development solutions that are mission-specific, cost-effective, innovative, and positively impact the business performance of DFS employees, partners and stakeholders. Aligning with key areas of need identified across the organization the four-track PEP framework consists of: 1) Leadership, 2) Customer Focus, 3) Value Creation and 4) Personal Development.
Provide state agencies with resources and effective instructional programs to enable them to have greater knowledge, skills, and responsibility for fiscal management and accurate reporting of the state’s resources in order to provide services to the citizens of Florida. FLAIR Education provides fundamental accounting concepts and knowledge transfer on use of the state accounting system.
To ensure proper accountability over the use of State funds, the Bureau of
Auditing provides training on best practices for grant and contract management.
Training includes Florida Single Audit Act compliance, a hands-on monitoring
workshop, as well as best practices related to
contract and grant management.
The Bureau of Loss Prevention primary customers are the agencies of the State of Florida. The y provides professional safety training, quality evaluation tools and other loss prevention/cost control programs that enable agencies to better facilitate their individual safety programs. The main objective is to provide these services on the highest quality level attainable.
